Book Reviews Read any good books lately? I have! Here are my reviews on a few that I have truly enjoyed. Eventually, this page may include some reviews of books I didn't enjoy. Hopefully, some of you will let me know about books that touched your hearts with God's Grace as well. Maybe your review can even be on this page! A wonderful presentation of the patient redeeming love of God set in old California and based on the message of Hosea. This is a book for any believer who wonders about relationship with the Lord. Read it yourself and give it to friends! So You Don’t Want to Go to Church Anymore Tired of playing the church game? Ever feel like Christian relationships can be shallow and hypocritical? Is there a way to think of church while keeping our eyes on Jesus? Read this book! What does grace look like in human relationships? How would you think of people who don't think like you if you considered them in grace? Don Miller takes us on his own journey and shows us how the Lord spoke the message of grace in Jesus into his heart. This is a book worth reading. It will challenge your thinking, but that's okay. You may not like some parts or you may find yourself disagreeing with Miller. That's okay, too. In fact, you might ultimately decide that it isn't about you and that it is neither your right nor your responsibility to dole out the love of Jesus to those you see fit. And that decision would really be okay! A book that will challenge your thinking and present a grace-filled relationship with God. Read our review! The Ragamuffin Gospel will touch your heart and speak to you about the love of God in Jesus! Brennan Manning is one of my favorite authors and this is an excellent book on God's grace in Jesus! What would your church look like if leadership and laity operated from the perspective of God's grace? It would probably be very different. It may be like that described in Jim Kallam's book, Risking Church. "Truth without grace breeds self-righteousness and crushing legalism. Grace without truth breeds deception and moral compromise" So reads the back cover of Alcorn's book. But are these really opposites as he seems to suggest? What's So Amazing About Grace? "...why only Christians can and must reveal the grace the world is searching for." "God's Annoying Love for Imperfect People" "Christianity for the rest of us." If you sometimes feel like you aren't a "good enough" Christian, you need to read this book. Not an excuse for sin, but an honest look at the struggle of living the Christian life.
